Hello Everyone
It is a real privilege to introduce myself as the new Chair of the Suffolk County Athletic Association taking over the position after the retirement of previous chair Joe Mower.
My name is Edson Wilkinson, and I am both honoured and excited to take on this role at such an important time for athletics in our county. Suffolk has a proud history of developing athletes, officials, coaches, and volunteers who give their time and passion to our sport, and I am committed to building on that strong foundation.
Some of you may know me as I had previously competed as an athlete before making the transition to coaching and officiating. I am also the track & field and T&F officials secretary within the county athletic association, and currently training captain and officials co-ordinator at Newmarket Joggers AC. Frequent visitors to Abbeycroft Leisure’s Bury St. Edmunds Leisure Centre may have seen me working there during the day.
Athletics is more than competition — it is about opportunity, inclusion, development, and community. As Chair, my aim is to support our clubs, strengthen collaboration across the county, and ensure that everyone involved — from young athletes taking their first steps on the track to experienced competitors, officials, and volunteers — feels valued and supported.
I believe strongly in listening first. Over the coming months, I look forward to meeting many of you, understanding your perspectives, and working together to shape a clear, positive direction for the Association.
I am excited about what we can achieve together and proud to serve Suffolk athletics in this role.
Edson
